Meet Susan:
Hello! My name is Susan Allen. I teach the 2 day 2 year old class. I first started subbing at the Kirk in 2012. In 2013, I started teaching the 2 year old class and this will be my 6th year with this group. I have been so blessed to have such great kids and their families at the Kirk. The staff at the Kirk is the most caring group of people I have ever worked with. I grew up on a farm in Red Oak, NC. I graduated from Peace College and NC State University (Go Wolfpack!) My family and I live in Holly Springs. My husband, Jeff and I have been married for 16 years. We have 3 awesome boys, a set of twins who are 11 and our oldest son is 13. All three of them went to Kirk Children's Center starting when they were two. Our family stays busy attending NCSU games and going to all of our boys sporting events.
I absolutely love working with the two year olds. It is so much fun and so rewarding. This is such a fun age group. I am amazed how much these little kiddos grow and mature from September to May.
My main goals with the two's are:

For them to feel safe and loved while they are away from Mom and Dad

Learn how to express their feelings with words

For them to just to have fun
Our typical day is to come in and have free play at centers until we go outside. After playground time, we come in and work on a craft or artwork that goes along with our theme for the day. Next we have circle time where we talk about the weather, do the calendar, read about our class pet (a stuffed animal monkey named Melvin), talk about our theme and I read a book to the kids. We also sing sometimes during circle time and later in the year, work on the pledge of allegiance. After circle time, we say the blessing, have lunch and then look at books or read another story until it is time to pack up and go home. Miss Brenda has Music with the kids once and week. We also do Praise and Worship and Bible time with Miss Brenda once a month.
